DUPR

Also called: Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating

A number that shows your pickleball skill, calculated mainly from match results. It ranges from 2.000 to 8.000.

Short for Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating, a number (a rating) that shows your pickleball skill (DUPR). Its pronunciation is given as "duper" (Miami University alumni article). The USA Pickleball rulebook has no rules about DUPR.

It is calculated from match results and is updated every time you play (DUPR, DUPR). Everyone is measured on the same 2.000 to 8.000 scale, regardless of age or gender (DUPR), and a higher number means a more advanced player (DUPR). There are two main ratings: singles and doubles. Men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles all count toward the doubles rating (DUPR). On top of these, "sub-scores" are shown for results in mixed doubles and in age-group doubles (50 and over, 65 and over) (DUPR).

Everyone starts as "NR" (Not Rated). Besides recorded match results, your first rating can also come from an evaluation by a certified coach or an evaluation based on video of your play (DUPR).
