First Server

In doubles, the player who serves first when the serve comes to their team after a side out. Their server number is "1".

In doubles, the player who serves first when the serve comes to their team after a side out. The player who is on the right, in the correct position for the team's score, is the first server (Section 2, Definitions, 5.B.2).

The third number in the score call (the server number) is "1" (6.B.2). When the first server loses a rally, their partner serves as the second server (5.B.5).

However, the player who serves first in each game (the starting server) is treated as the second server. That is why the start of a game is called "0-0-2" (5.B, 5.B.2, 6.B.2).
