Score Call

Saying the score out loud before the serve.

Saying the score out loud before serving. Usually the server calls it, and the rule is that the server must finish calling the whole score before serving (6.B, 6.C).

In doubles, you say three numbers in this order: "serving side's score, receiving side's score, server number" (6.B.2). In singles and in rally scoring, it is two numbers (6.B.1, 14.A.3).

For details, see The score call (three numbers).

How to read the sources: numbers like (8.F.4) are rulebook sections, and links are outside sources. An "Author's note" is the author's personal experience, not an official rule.
